I'm not welcome in this country

hey, they don't mean you[...] personally! but in the general one you are right - ok, I hope you know what I mean!
german people are foreigners too, but nonetheless you are european - ok, they don't like them neither, but their slogans are terrible scary; imagine what people directly aimed by these slogans must feel living here in Austria.

Du verwechselst hier ein paar essentielle Dinge: es geht - zumindestens vorranging - um Ausländer deren Aufenthaltsstatus sich irgendwo in der Nähe von illegal oder ungeklärt befindet. Du als EU-Bürger kannst gar nicht zu dieser Gruppe von Ausländern zählen. Natürlich mag es Individuen geben, die allgemein gegen alle ausländischen Personen sind - aus mir nicht immer klaren Ängsten - aber in erster Linie geht es hier eben nicht um die gesamte Ausländer-Gruppe, sondern nur um !EU-Bürger. Insofern ist dein Beitrag hier in dieser allgemeinen Form falsch; obwohl ich jetzt freilich nicht ausschließen kann, dass jeder sechste der dich auf der Strasse sieht, nicht doch was schlechtes denkt ;)

Meiner Erfahrung nach ist die Stimmung hier im Land gegenüber Deutschen in den letzten 15 Jahren drastisch gesunken. Von großer Verbundenheit - großer Bruder - hin zu "will nix wissen von den Koffern". Schuld imho daran ist die Großkotzigkeit mit der gewisse Deutsche über Österreich - wenn auch scherzhaft gemeint - immer wieder herziehen um sich selbst ein bisschen besser vorzukommen. Eine Mini-Rolle hat da vielleicht auch der EU-Hirnfurz mit dem Boykott Österreichs nach den Nationalratswahlen 2000 gespielt - insbesondere von Kärntnern höre ich immer wieder, dass sie hier nicht vergessen haben, dass es keinerlei Verständnis für die innere Souveränität ATs von deutscher Seite gab. (Rest-österreich hält Kärntner, Burgenländer und auch Wiener aber auch irgendwie für Ausländer ;-))

Funny how in every country you find groups of people hating foreigners, but they all buy and like cheap products made in half slavery conditions by those folks in their far away lands. It makes for nice and easy living and greater profit margins. But when people from those countries "import" theirselves into our homeland, we hate their guts.

Eh, since I live in the Land of the Xenophobes, I know how the opinions go on both sides... my thought is that if you want to move here, great, but don't expect any handouts or tax exemptions... hard work is fine , but you should be accountable just like everyone else. Other than that, I say no problem.. unless you're here working for like 7 years in which case you need to become a citizen or get out LOL.

Someone with your smarts (certainly when it comes to coding 3d engines) must notice the mistake in this reasoning. Those 15% voted for right-wing parties because of all kind of rationale (I haven't read any analysis yet, but I think preventing a red-green coalition might be among them, just like general frustration and fear, the crime rate, and yes, foreigner issues). You are lumping those voters together and call them xenophobic, just like the same right-wing party leaders tend to lump together members from certain ethnic groups for across-the-board accusations. And while I agree that animosity against foreigners fueled by certain politicians is a serious problem in Austria, no one cast a vote yesterday because of what he or she "thinks about you".

yeah, I've maybe I've overdone a bit, but I think if one of those parties says it would expel 300.000 foreigners and the other one would deny any public services to foreigners, then it should be allowed to shake my head a bit.
