Irrlicht 1.3.1 released

We just released Irrlicht 1.3.1. Here is a short exerpt of some of the new features:
  • Works seemlessly with the also just released irrEdit (0.7.1).
  • Support for Ogre 1.4 .mesh files
  • Added an optional SDL device, to let Irrlicht run on not yet natively supported platforms like embedded devices.
  • Added support for more texture creation flags in OpenGL
  • Cloning of whole scene graphs is now possible
  • Improved GUI editor
  • Multiple dozens of bug fixes and other small improvements
Thanks to the whole Irrlicht Team and to all other people who made this possible.

It became 1.3.1 because there were basically bug fixes and no major API changes. So your apps should recompile without modifications. 1.4 will have several new features and probably some API changes. Or maybe the new animation system will be ready and we change to 1.5 directly…

@stodge: interesting comment from someone who throws away his own render engine in favor of ogre or jmonkey…

if i were you i would also keep an eye on IrrSpintz maybe some of its improvment will help “Vanilla Irrlicht” too

I guess he meant ‘not so much’, but I already gave the reasons in my previous comment. We tried to reorganize and simplify much stuff in order to integrate the new features more easily and keep the engine’s API simple.

its is lightning fast.. i am getting 12 more frames/sec on the demo with 1.3.1 than i had with 1.3.. clearly some nice improvements went on here. :D.. Btw the GUI editor looks cool.. i just wish it had a full screen option.

Sorry for my English! In the next version will be any VBO (Vertex Buffer Object) support or multiple textures available in shaders.
